Richard Brown of Wild Scythe
Mowsaic
Ecologist and scythe practitioner Richard Brown joined several Mosaic Memories workshops to create a striking artwork expressing his “Mowsaic” philosophy — an ecological approach to grassland management celebrating varied mowing regimes as essential to habitat diversity. His “mowsaic” challenges the anxiety around mowing by promoting a nuanced view: that a mosaic of short turf, meadow, and rough grassland — cut at different times — supports far greater biodiversity than uniform management. The resulting mosaic mirrors how hands-on making can embody ecological thinking.
Jaqueline Wright
Sow & Piglets
Jack brought to Mosaic Memories a long-standing concrete sculpture of a sow and piglets which had sat outside her home for many years. Working directly onto its surface, Jack gradually transformed it through intricate mosaic, embracing the challenge of its curved, detailed form. The result is a richly textured three-dimensional artwork honouring the original while bringing it vividly to life.
